Often a few words are enough to connect with the locals. In the DR Congo we met many people who want to make a difference with courage and initiative, and actively fight against poverty.
Our activities aim to provide targeted support to our partners in the South and North Kivu provinces of the DR Congo, and to sustainably strengthen their independent work. Our aim is to achieve the greatest possible impact with the resources we use.
By providing school materials we support schools in the project area and help improve access to education for all children.
We support the I.S.T.D. institute in Kalehe to give young people in rural South Kivu access to quality education and future prospects in their home region.
Together with I.S.T.D. Kalehe we promote training in skilled trades, giving young people the opportunity to use their skills in their villages and strengthen the local economy.
By collecting and restoring mechanical sewing machines we enable young women in Congo to train as seamstresses and open their own sewing workshops in their villages.
With tool donations and hands-on training we support young men in setting up their own carpentry workshops and shaping their own futures.
We commission carpentry workshops in Congo to build the sewing machine frames, saving transport costs while boosting local value creation on the ground.
By delivering solar systems and providing training in their use, we support the energy supply of educational and healthcare facilities in the region.
An efficient stove that saves two thirds of charcoal was rebuilt together with our partners in Congo so that it can be produced locally and used widely.
We supply hospitals in the South and North Kivu provinces with medical materials to improve healthcare for the population and give people hope.
With targeted donations in kind we support orphanages in South and North Kivu to give children in extreme need a minimum of survival support and a little hope.
We support refugee camps in the civil war-affected provinces of South and North Kivu with urgently needed donations in kind so that people can survive under extremely difficult conditions and hold on to a glimmer of hope.
Once a year we send a container of relief supplies to Congo, filled with many useful items collected and packed by our numerous supporters.
By working with local partners from schools, NGOs and cooperatives we promote the development of networks and social initiatives, such as a garden project for a self-sufficient orphanage in Goma. The goals are knowledge transfer, reducing dependencies, fostering self-reliance and creating synergies.
In the containers we send to Congo there is always room for plenty of footballs to bring a little joy to children in the schools.
